Jenn’s Corner #18: Welcome to the new Reach Mahjong.com

It’s been a busy month! Andy and I have been working our asses off to get this new incredible website to you. I’m sure you have all read the press release already (if not, check it out here) so you know some of the great things we are planning on getting to you! For now, I’m finishing up the transfer of the glossary and working on the official Ron2 tutorial. Garthe is busy getting our brand new podcast schedule together and we’ll get it up as soon as we can!

The best part about our new website is the new content management system. Until now, all articles and columns were e-mailed to me and I went through the task of tagging the text, adapting it for html. Now, each columnist can login and update their own columns, meaning all I have to do is go in and edit the content. The writers are also no inputting their own tile images so I don’t have to spend time making the files in Photoshop anymore. That means that we get you more updates on-time! We will also be starting book reviews and tons more projects in 2008!

Don’t forget to check out Gemma’s “What Would You Discard” every Thursday to see hands and discuss with other players what you think about when you choose which way you want to go with your hand.

One of the most exciting new content items is Andy’s blog which is scheduled to start this week. Andy will keep you updated on RM and YO developments as well as discuss play on Ron2 and live too. You can follow Andy’s progress as a player and also the progress of RM as we work harder to become the best online Mahjong website in the world. That also means that my column will be freed up to discuss strategy and things going on in the Mahjong world instead of just our website updates.

I would like to ask you to write to me and tell me what you would like to hear more about. I also want to encourage players to sign up on Ron2. We will be putting up a tutorial to help you get signed up and use the software. With the Japanese characters it will be a little bit tough for some players at first, but you’ll get used to it and Gemma will be organizing meetings and review sessions for players from RM and YO.

Please also notice the new easy-access to MahjongMart. We are working to bring you tiles of quality at a price you can afford. We already have many satisfied customers and we are adding new products all the time too. Check out the site to find a holiday gift or that special set that you always wanted.

I’m off to work on the glossary and Ron2 tutorial. Stay tuned!
