Spare Seats at the European Riichi Championship!

Some of you will already know about the problems with seat allocation for ERC 2010, so it’s surprising that there are some seats as yet un-called for! The organizers have decided to run a lottery for the remaining seats. Please see the below email from the ERC organizers for more information.
> Dear MJ player, association, multipliers,…
>
> as you may have noticed there are a few spare seats at the European
> Riichi Championship this year. We still do not know the exact amount
> as the deadline for registration is only on June 15th. But we do know
> how we want to share the remaining seats.
>
> Let me inform you first that nearly every nation had asked for
> additional seats, so we certainly did not want to treat this topic
> lightly.
>
> First we thought of giving the seats to those nations that played
> qualifications and with it have a waiting list with several more
> interested players, like the Netherlands, Denmark, Austria,
> Germany,… But those are the countries that did already get a
> reasonable quote of seats, so some other countries might complain.
>
> Then we thought of giving the remaining seats to those countries who
> only have a small quote and do have more interested players as well,
> like Poland, Russia, the UK… But then the big MJ nations might start
> complaining.
>
> Following strictly the results of qualifications that have been played
> would have been unfair to those players who live in countries whose MJ
> structure is still developing and does not yet support national
> qualifications.
>
> So here is what we decided to do: we will draw lots out of any
> application that we get from not registered players, neither regarding
> their nationality nor their place in any qualification. So please
> spread this request amongst your MJ playing friends to apply for a
> left-over seat by filling in the form on our website
> http://mah-jongg.de/veranstaltungen/ecr2010/
> We will do the lottery on June 16th. You’ll see the results as well on
> our website as on youtube.
>
> The info about the upcoming lottery will be published on further
> platforms tomorrow.
>
> Best regards
