Jenn’s Corner #25: Preparations

Things are going good. Gem is doing all the work that I used to do, so I was looking forward to some time off, but ended up busier somehow. Funny how that works.

My book is going great, look for that early next year. I can’t wait to talk more about that. The World Series of Mahjong is less than a month away and I’ve been practicing and getting all my bad luck and bad play out of the way before the big event. I’ve also been working on getting all my affairs in order to go to Macau next week. I’m gonna be at the APPT for a week and a half, then Hong Kong for a few days before heading over to the Wynn and the WSOM. Over there Gem, Garthe and I are going to be giving you LIVE coverage for the first time ever. We’re going to cover any players wearing ReachMahjong.com gear, so if you are gonna be there, be sure to send us an e-mail and we’ll make sure you get some stickers.

If you don’t have your plans to go yet, don’t forget to sign-up for the Riichi Qualifier on MahjongTime. It’s $100 and the winner gets a free seat in the WSOM Reach Event as well as $1000 for a travel stipend. It’s a pretty sweet deal. The Riichi rules use the official EMA Riichi Competition Rules. Also, since ReachMahjong.com is working with Mahjong Time to sponsor the winner, you get free gear from us too! We have new T-shirts coming, key chains and sticker patches, so don’t miss out. Use the meet-up on Ron2 this weekend to warm-up and then play the qualifier after.

For the next few days I’m going to be playing Mahjong Fight Club all day, everyday. On Saturday Garthe and I have the JPML Rookie Cup and it’s time for redemption after a crappy League session.

I’m trying to decide who we’re going to interview next month. Any requests? Speaking of interviews, Bjoern from Germany has made a new German website about Reach Mahjong and interviewed me for it! Take a look and (especially if you speak German), let me know what you think!
