Dora = Yaku?

Post by Gamegrunt » Fri Nov 13, 2009 10:53 pm

http://japanese-mahjong.com/riichi-mahjong.html
dora
A tile which is worth 1 yaku.
Isn\'t this incorrect? Isn\'t a dora worth a fan or han or whatever they\'re calling it these days? Merely melding a dora doesn\'t equal one yaku.

Or does it?

Yes, this is wrong.

A dora gives one han (aka fan, aka double), not a yaku.

Having just a dora does not enable to go out.
