Push/Fold

I had an interesting situation I wanted to ask about:

I have honitsu in tenpai with a pon of yakuhai and one dora, so 7700 points, but kamicha seems to be pursuing a crak honitsu; in theory a valuess East with another one already out should be pretty safe, but being against a potential honitsu it becomes more dangerous.

I'm second by a very small margin, if I pay against kamicha I pay against the fourth, but being in South 1 - and likely South 2 after this hand - there is not much time left in the game.

What should prevail here: folding because East could be dangerous, or pushing because the hand is good? I think pushing wouldn't be wrong, since with a good wait in a similar situation I think it's more likely to win that to pay for that East so in the long run it'd pay more that what it costs (in the end I
Spoiler: show
pushed the East, and paid honitsu
).

I already got a great answer from the guy at The Mahjong Guide (he would
Spoiler: show
push East
) while the forum was down, but I thought it could be interesting to present the situation here too.

Should I push my 7700 honitsu tenpai in South 1, even against a potential crake honitsu? Personally, I've found that a guaranteed 7700 in a close second place is often worth the risk, especially with yakuhai safety. I'd push, hoping to end the round. Happy pacman 30th anniversary .
