Saki:the case of the extra tile
I'm sure this must have been discussed to death back in 2009 but since it's relatively new to me, I'd like to bring it up again.

Just after the 5 minute mark of episode 1, Saki has 15 tiles in her hand. This scene is over in an instant. From what I have read, and it wasn't much, it was obviously a goof in the animation. (and the manga too, I gather)
I also have some other observations, which didn't seem to be mentioned in the comments to that link.
http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2009/04/09/saki-cheating/
1) There seems to be 137 tiles in this game.
The wall has 14+17+11=42 stacks of 2 or 84 tiles, BUT, there is one missing in the middle of kyou-chan's wall, which leaves 83. (look carefully)
(This should have been very obvious to them when the game started)
The hands have 13+13+13+15=54. This totals 137. There are no discards yet.
2) In clockwise order, 26 stacks of 2 have been picked up by the players, or 52 tiles. It should be 53 (the 14th dealer tile).
There should only be 1 tile sitting in the front of Nodoka,s wall. (She should have noticed this)
So, in summation, Saki didn't take her 14th tile from Nodoka's wall but it magically appears in her hand (the 137th tile).
Her 15th tile belongs back in the middle of kyou-chan's wall. Lots of goofs in this scene, no cheating.
Okay, I know this stuff is all meaningless, but I'm having fun. Gimmee a break.

Re: Saki:the case of the extra tile
I think this error was also fixed in the tankôbon (book version) of the manga.
Life is as beautiful as you want it to be, but it´s only one. That´s why you must not get tired of it. Don´t care if you don´t say something that seems "important" because your mere existence is important for someone.
Re: Saki:the case of the extra tile
Wow, I'm impressed. It was actually fixed. That's a nice revised picture, great clarity, and large, but what are those 2 tiles in front of Nodoka? Shouldn't they be in the wall for a correct count of 53 tiles picked up (13+13+13+14).
They can't be discards since Saki has to discard first.

Re: Saki:the case of the extra tile
They are discards. Nodoka is East. You can see the dice roll is 11 and points to Saki, so Saki is West.
Re: Saki:the case of the extra tile
This is not a very saki-y hand, but at this point she's in "plus minus zero" mode.
Re: Saki:the case of the extra tile
I guess this also must be old stuff but I noticed that in Saki: Episode 2, 19-20 minutes in, Saki and Nodoka are both reading this book.
Any significance to the title or is it just an error?

Well, looks like the "Rord of the Rings" is a famous book, isn't it?

Anime and manga in general tend to feature famous brands with one letter switched up. For example, WcDonalds. See http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/M ... ameProduct for more.
