Super-Mega Competition part 3 - win a mahjong book!
To celebrate the milestone of 250,000 hits on my GameFAQs guides I'm running another of my little competitions.
As usual the prize is a UK 1977 paperback edition of Eleanor Noss Whitney's 1964 classic A Mah Jong Handbook with its 70-page section on strategy and extensive glossary of English and Japanese mahjong terminology. Not only that, but you also receive an exclusive, limited edition, hand-crafted Thirteen Orphans bookmark!
The rules are pretty simple - to enter the competition just login and reply to this thread picking one of the 34 unique mahjong tiles using the "smilies" on the right of the message compose screen.
I'll keep the competition open for a couple of weeks, after which time I will pick tiles at random from one of my sets until I get an exact match.
The competition is open to all forum members - old and new; regulars, irregulars and lurkers. The book will be mailed free of charge, worldwide.
Good luck!
For reference here are the current picks:-
= Dave = Shirl = BoyaSonny
= Senechal = Kyuu = umaso = Iapetus
= Trotskey = Ignatius = Ref
= ordinaryk

I love things that build up community! Good work, Bart (I never know whether to call you Bart, James or Barticle - I'm sticking with Bart until asked otherwise).
My choice will be obvious. Since there is no White-Donkey, I'm going with:

I like to give away these books when I pick up a cheap copy. If it entices one or two new posters that's a bonus.
Most folks know me as Bart in real life or Barticle online and I'm happy with either.
I'm usually only James at work (and in copyright statements in my guides) or Jim to my close family. It's a bit like having multiple personalities!

I choose We´ll see the outcome...
Life is as beautiful as you want it to be, but it´s only one. That´s why you must not get tired of it. Don´t care if you don´t say something that seems "important" because your mere existence is important for someone.

I choose this one -- in a manner the way I play the game -- on a whim.

Haha, I registered just for this
I guess has the best chances to get picked in case you take from a Japanese set that has six 5p ( that is 4 normal ones + 2 akapai).

Then Bart's offering has been totally worthwhile. Welcome aboard!umaso wrote:Haha, I registered just for this
The community here wins regardless of who gets the book/bookmark.

I've edited my initial post now to show all the current entries.

I like your style! However for fairness (and to avoid duplicate draws) I normally only put 34 unique tiles in the "hat".umaso wrote:I guess [5p] has the best chances to get picked in case you take from a Japanese set that has six 5p ( that is 4 normal ones + 2 akapai).

Gimme a sec. I'll get a couple more people.
EDIT:
Come to think of it, I might need that book for Wikipedia. In the event, that I don't win... and I can't see why 4-pin wouldn't win ... send the ISBN over to me.
