Re: Post your Chankan
Not when everyone is doing a kan on everything just because. It happens fairly often in JRM.
Re: Post your Chankan
Like junchan, viewtopic.php?f=5&t=53327#p57873, this is another yaku which doesn't get the respect it deserves, and it's much harder to get. To coin a cliche, you have to be in the right place at the right time.
What I especially liked about this one was that I was fortunate enough to steal a red five.
Unlike my recent junchan, which was a la carte, I believe this was chankan tanyao dora 2.
This was only my 5th in 2700 hanchans.

Re: Post your Chankan
In the old Tenhou stats Junchan is about seven times more common than Chankan.
You were certainly lucky to get that red five. I guess technically you "rob" the fourth tile so you would've got a standard five if the red was already in the pung.
You almost got San Shoku on that win too!

This was back when I was a newish player
East 2
Misclicked the 7p pon, was purely an accident, put me in tenpai without a yaku
The rest is history, was shocked when the "ron" button popped up.

A fairly standard open attack that just happened to hit chankan. The sweet thing is that it upped the score from 3900 to 7700. Those points ended up being necessary.
I don't agree with the decision to kan there, as it had a much higher chance of helping other players.

Not for me. I don't get junchan (or chanta) that often in the computer games but honitsu and chinitsu occurrences more than make up for it.Barticle wrote:In the old Tenhou stats Junchan is about seven times more common than Chankan.
I was wondering about that but what you said sounds logicalBarticle wrote: You were certainly lucky to get that red five. I guess technically you "rob" the fourth tile so you would've got a standard five if the red was already in the pung.
Didn't see that, but almost doesn't count. Too bad.Barticle wrote: You almost got San Shoku on that win too!
I guess he wanted the kan dora in the hopes of taking over first place.Iapetus wrote,

Why did he pon the 2 in the first place? Oh, I see, going for toi-toi.
But when he picked up the second north, why discard the . There was a north in the discard pool but no fives. That worked out really well for you.
I probably would have tossed that north and kept the fives.

Call the police, a kong was just robbed!
Bystanders heard the words KAN! RON! yelled in rapid succession and that meant CHANKAN had struck again.
Last robbery was 1800 games ago. The thief, alias the "dealer", got away with a while the victim was nailed for an 18,000 pt haneman.
These clues were found at the scene (riichi, chankan, pinfu, tanyao, dora dora) and two tiles were stained red, possibly from blood.
Note: There is an actual IOS app called Mahjong Police by Konami. It has an excellent gameboard and story mode, in japanese,.... and costs $7.

Re: Post your Chankan
Whoa, a bit of an old thread. Not too much, though. I think Eagle1902 linked the wrong hand, though...
Re: Post your Chankan
He states that it is East 2, which was the 4th hand. He pons the 7p and his opposite opponent kans the 7s, which he robs for the win.I think Eagle1902 linked the wrong hand, though...
You can hit the scene button and go directly to that hand.
Did a little research:case occurred in Hokkaidô!?
Konami also has Mahjong Fight Club but I can't find it in the US app store.Looks like Konami is famous for their mahjong games

Re: Post your Chankan
The Mahjong Fight Club for Android, which is a global game, has less downloads than Mahjong Tengokuhai. When I tried both, Tengokuhai had better connection.
Don´t know now...
In the pic I only saw Garthe but I think in the "press start/touch the scrren" pic of the actual game you can see her...
