shuugi??
I have been experimenting in a video game with the following victory conditions:
半荘3回で横川にご祝儀チップで10枚以上リード: In three Hanchan against Yokogawa, be the leader with 10 Shuugi (Congratulations) Chips or more than this Yokogawaa guy/lady (translation provided by Ignatius).
Trouble is, I'm not exactly sure what I have to do to accumulate these "tips". (and why sometimes they appear when they do)
Barticles Guide states the following:
チップ [chippu] / 祝儀 [shūgi]
Chips can be used to track any luck-based bonuses that a player receives during play, for example, when they make
Ippatsu, get an Ura Dora, use a red five, or complete a Yakuman.
Can anyone provide any more details regarding this optional rule?
Are the conditions standard or vary per house rules? (additional ways to get them, how many you get when you get them, and from who? etc, etc)
Note: In the screenshot below, even though I finally managed to win all 3 hanchans, it was not enough to satisfy the victory conditions. I'm not even sure if i have to win all 3 hanchans. I assume that big red circle is the "stamp of rejection".

Re: shuugi??
Just a quick post from me:
The chips are usually given as you said for red 5s, ippatsu, and ura dora. Usually a bigger one is given for a Yakuman. There can be other possible reasons for getting one but these are the most common I see. I'll take a look at the Japanese in the screenshot when I get home a bit later if noone gets to it by then.
EDIT: Marchao for example uses the ones listed above and a Yakuman is worth 5 chips (so if a chip is 100yen then a yakuman is worth 500yen)
EDIT EDIT: Yeah the kanji stamp says Shippai or "Failure". Also from the requirements it lists I'm not sure you actually have to WIN all three hanchan. You just have to have a 10 chip lead over your opponent.

As a stupid add if you watch/reads 咲-Saki: Ueshige Suzu is the girl from Himematsu that has 失(error, loss, failure) written on her forehead by Suehara Kyouko.
Well, if you can find an inside game explanation for "obtaining chips conditions" I will gladly help. But probably those conditions are only what Ozzball stated.

Re: shuugi??
Like any optional rule there are numerous variations. You might find there's an option to specify the standard chip payment - perhaps one, two or five chips - or to set the points (or monetary) value of each chip. Typically you receive that standard amount from the discarder in a Ron win (e.g. two chips for one Ura Dora, four chips for two) but you will receive triple chips if you win by Tsumo (all opponents pay the standard amount) so that would be something to aim for.
The usual sources would be Ippatsu and Ura Dora (so reach when possible), red 5's and Yakuman. However you might also receive chips if you bust an opponent and if your game/table has more exotic rules they can be awarded for Arisu, Toriuchi, Haku Pocchi, other red tiles (e.g. 1's and 9's) and gold 7's; they can be used as the mechanism for exchanging Yakitori payments too.

Re: shuugi??
Below are the rules for this particular "jansou" where you must have 10 shuugi more than the host in order to satisfy the victory conditions. The 3 hanchans are east/north (tonpeisen). There are 3 red fives and 1 haku pocchi.
The uma spread, wareme, and yakitori are not in effect but bankruptcy is. (no shuugi for busting an opponent)
After finally succeeding in this room (and it wasn't easy), I noticed that you only get the shuugi for the red fives if the winning hand is concealed. Have you ever heard of an optional rule like that? Does that mean that you should NEVER open your hand in this match?
(except for maybe a possible yakuman)

From the looks of it you get 1 chip for a red 5 and one for haku pochi. Nothing else from the looks of it, and no mention of the closed hand only rule. Not sure what "dobon" is though, but apparently it's in effect.

Re: shuugi??
Dobon is the same as Hakoten. The fact of being busted or busting a player, with 0 or less points. Depends on the rules. In the East Round there is Agari Renchan, in North, there is Tenpai Renchan. Also, if you bust another player, you'll obtain 10P. Man, I love my new "Ikeda Kana doing a Riichi" avatar. Just wanted to say it even if it's meaningless.

Re: shuugi??
Your avatar is very cute. How did you find it. I understand they have to be under 6kb. It was hard for me to find one that size that I could relate to.
Ikeda is a second year student at Kazekoshi Girls' High School. She has triplet sisters who look exactly like her.
Kana is a cheerful, cat-like girl and has great confidence in her mahjong skill. She has been shown to put together a yakuman in a few hands

Even basic image software (e.g. Microsoft Windows Picture Manager) should let you resize an image (to make it physically smaller - max size is 80x80 for an avatar) and "compress" it (so it uses fewer kilobytes). With a small image very few kilobytes are required to give a decent quality, as illustrated by the lovely Kana here.
Nice to see another cat avatar on the forum (kinda)!
Never say never! You would be less likely to open your hand if you're using a red five though, or maybe even if you're waiting on a five.

It's quite rare to see tips/chips in video-games but Mahjong Haoh: Dankyuu Battle 3 (among its 83 custom rule options!) does have several options for chips including one relating to red fives (and similar tiles): no chips / one chip per red five / one chip per red five if concealed.or2az wrote:I noticed that you only get the shuugi for the red fives if the winning hand is concealed. Re: shuugi??
For my avatar I picked it from sankaku complex a web with a lot of (I would say full of) erotic images. I was searching here for an avatar as I know there are not only erotic images (only a few aren´t erotic, ehem), and some of them are very good ones. Then I went to http://www.avatar-generator.com/ And made an avatar with it. The web tells what to do to get the the image converted. As simple as that.
I like Ikeda Kana 池田華菜 a lot because of her positiveness and happy go lucky attitude. She never surrenders, even in the worst conditions. Something I would like to be able to do.
As a side note, I would say a good place to search is always: http://www.pixiv.net But the best way to search here, usually is to search in japanese...

Well, we all love Kana:
- Riichi, Ippatsu, Tsumo, Pinfu, Junchan, Sanshoku, Iipeikou. Dora san!!
- Chan kan, Dora nana!!
- All I need now is 30 ties with just oya and me in tenpai, then a direct hit yakuman. May be faster if someone throws in a riichi stick.
