Hello:

I'm a spanish man new in this forum. Hi to all, and, first of all, sorry for my bad english.

I'm playing riichi mahjong since a years ago, when I began to study Japanese in the university, but I have a lot of problems with somes rules yet.

For example, in this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oj-i7Udy7Qo

I donĀ“t know what happened in the 06:30 because the player is in riichi waiting for a 7 bamboo tile, but he gets (I can't see from where) a 9 circles tile an a north tile and finishs his yaku.

Could somebody explain me what kind of rule is that?.

I see he is the noth seat and the dora is a a noth tile. It's something about this?.

Thanks for all, I'm very happy to have reached this web, jejejeje.

He didn't take the 9p and North into his hand. They are the dora and ura-dora indicator.

Maybe you should read some of the sites listed there.

Ok, sorry.

I know about the dora and uradora (for riichi) but I hadn't seen that the other player had discarded a 7 bamboo tile and, how the winner hadn't joined it to his yaku, I got confused.

Now that you have said me about the dora and uradora (the north is dora and the 9 circles is uradora), I have seen the 7 bamboo discarded tile.

Lot of thanks for all.

I understand there isn't much documentation in Spanish, but I recommend you (or your group) read this guide:

Hey, I'm from Spain. I helped here sometimes with translations of japanese mahjong games.

I can help you out. Send me a PM, if you want.

P.S: Also, xKime book is quite good I think.

Not for long - there's a 30 page article and a whole book in writing.

So far, I'm expecting to hit the 200 pages mark when I finally finish the glossary (the most boring part to write). Oh, and I'm having the same problem as you. I never feel like it's actually finished so I keep redoing chapters.
Both seem to be stuck in developement for an indeterminate time.

Speaking of books and slow progress, I've had to alter the entire concept I was wishing to make my book on.

But to do my book, I need input and permissions from 4 to 6 people, on top of having to eventually contact club representatives worldwide.

Edgar contacted me last month. Evidently I should have a credit in there somewhere. :)

Any one can have a review?

I'm seeing in the index "plays of 3 han" and "plays of 5 han", so that's a bit inaccurate, there is no yaku of 5 han (Nagashi notwithstanding). Some of the terms in Spanish sound weird to me, but maybe it's because I'm so used to hear them in English or Japanese and they are not a perfect match. Is it really necessary to translate "yaku" as "play"? But meh, I'm too much of a purist, it seems. And I've only looked at the index.
