For anybody out there struggling with japanese/chinese (which includes myself) I thought Id drop a tip.
I use Mozilla Firefox as a browser and have installed the Unofficial Google Translate FireFox Extension v1.3 which can be downloaded from here
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6938
Right click, select the languages you want, and click translate page. You can also highlight text and alt+left click or alt+ middle click or ctrl+alt+left or middle click for an in-place translation
Please watch the video tutorial
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIH03t2FEfs
Its an excellent little tool thats helped me around many a chinese/japanese site.
NB it will not help you translate any buttons that use images but I find that most chinese/japanese sites use english as the roll over text (shown in the status bar at the bottom of the screen)

Google translate is a terrifyingly good tool. I use it a lot to navigate foreign language sites.
Let\'s just hope it doesn\'t put me out of a job in the future...! :S

It still makes some odd translations with non-european languages particularly asian languages with symbols like kanji that may not translate 1-for-1
