The junk mat might be a little small for tiles that size, but I doubt you'll find much bigger ones. And if you do, it won't fit on a bridge table, even less on most regular tables.

You can also just use whatever piece of fabric as a mat, if you're ok with not having ledges.

But, I would like large pieces for my hands, and older eyes. They don't have to be these competition pieces I mentioned above, but I'd like a decent set, color, quality. I don't want to "upgrade" to better stuff.
What do you like to use and play with?
Here is a picture of the set I play with.
Tiles are 1.5 inches high, 1-3/16 inches long, and 7/8 inches wide.
The ones on the left. Very stable and don't fall over.

Hi or2az,

This was very helpful! You went through a lot of trouble setting this up for me, and I appreciate it very much. The link you posted also was great! I need to hit tag sales, I still have a little spare room in my home that I need to fill!

Pax,

Gregory

I'm getting an Ideal of what I can do. Thanks.

I've been watching a competition on YouTube, and am stunned of how quick these folks are. I'm glad I can pause.

I'd love to help but my mahjong set was a gift, made of plastic.

And sadly don't know about inches, I'm on the metric system side.

Still, even if I can provide no help, welcome to the forum!
Thanks anyway for replying Ignatius,

Being a citizen of the only country on the planet that doesn't use metric as a standard system - I appreciate your trying anyway.

Be Well,

Greg

Newbie here. Hello everyone. I'm fairly new still and have played on and off. Hope to learn some tips here. Currently I'm playing a steam game called Mahjong Nagomi on the Steam platform.

Hi Hobo and welcome. :) Feel free to start a new thread or browse through all the old threads and resurrect one as required.

I've mainly played on game consoles. I don't think I've played Mahjong Nagomi but the presentation looks pretty nice in screenshots.

How're you getting on with the app and mahjong generally?

Depending on your knowledge/experience, you might find the first couple of links in my signature useful.

Hello! I'm a newbie here, just joined in. I opened Mahjong for myself not long ago. It turned out to be so interesting, so I decided to register here in the hope to gain new knowledge and skills.

Hi legra. Welcome to the forum.

There's lots of information in old threads here - hopefully some interesting or useful - mainly about Japanese/Riichi mahjong.

Welcome aboard!
