I didn't realise we share an interest too but recently she posted a photo of her enjoying a two-player game of mahjong during a power cut at her new home in New Zealand. She said her mahjong playing is continuing a family tradition of three generations - so, in some way, I now feel that mine is too.
A mutual friend from the same era commented that he also enjoys it. It's nice when someone says "oh I like mahjong as well" and they're not talking about Shanghai solitaire!
