Japanese Hanafuda Flower Cards Game Indoor & Outdoor
I got this item on ebay for ($9.00 USD). Comes with a plastic case, 54 cards (48 hanafuda cards plus 6 blank cards), and the instruction in Japanese. Cards are durable (made from PVC plastic) and small. These are meant to be played outside due to the plastic material they are made from.

Japan Multitask Hanafuda & Standard Playing Cards & Case
I bought two versions of this item on ebay for ($8.50 USD each, incl Shipping/Handling). All this is a full deck of 54 cards. It combines the American standard playing cards (52 plus 2 jokers) and Hanafuda cards. The quality is acceptable. Aces thru Queens cards can be used for Hanafuda. The kings just show images of plants, and flowers. The jokers just show a clown on ball. I got two decks, each has its own color on the cards' backing (red and blue).
CONS: The plastic case they came in doesn’t close firmly so the top may accidently fall off and the cards can scatter everywhere. Cards are made from an acceptable material (not as good as the one used in the Standard cards you can get at a local store).

Hanafuda Hawaii Style
Hanafuda kit based on Hawaiian rules. I ordered mine directly from Gorgeous Studio. My box came with a cardboard case (really nice), booklet, 50 cards (48 Hanafuda and 2 information cards), and three promotional stickers from hanafudahawaii.com (Looks like the December Phoenix card).
The cards are thick and have beautiful designs on them. They also include additional information on them as well that is not typically included in the regular hanafuda decks:
1.Top Left corner - Point Values (written in Arabic Numerals)
2.Top Right corner – Traditional Japanese month (To identify the suit)
3. Bottom Left and/or Right corners – Yaku combination symbols (Used to identify which group the card can be combined for Yaku points)
The booklet explains the history of the cards, Japanese pronunciationhow to read the cards, card suits, how to play the Hawaiian game, Yaku combinations, strategies, and the story behind the moon card. Most of this information can be retrieved on the hanafudahawaii.com webpage.
The Phoneix stickers look nice. I received three of them and gave one to my sister.

I also have Japanese hanafuda, from Nintendo. I have tried making up a few games using these cards, including solitaire game.

Re: My HANAFUDA Sets (3)
It's quite amazing that Nintendo started out making hanafuda... over 120 years ago!
Thanks for the great pics and reviews. With the Hawaiian set I can see parallels to mahjong tiles - the extra markings make them easier to use but also spoil the classic designs.
The art designs on that deck seem to be vivid and detailed though, for example the grass on the August suit. It even adds the "rabbit in the moon" on the August special!
