Finally got my 2nd one of the Big Three Dragons.
First one was 2 years ago but this time I was EAST and nobody called riichi while I was going for it.

I still find the 2 best books to be Scott Miller's, and the strategy section of the Whitney book.
The online book by Daina Chiba is also very good but my heart will always belong to Bart's guide.

Well, 3 months have gone by and another city now has a riichi mahjong group. Ended up teaching 5 ladies and we have been playing regularly twice a week. Hope they can keep it going when I'm not around in the winter.

Both of the good ones can do that, but in different ways.
One does it with the Japanese characters, the other with the English pronunciation of the Japanese characters

I have not noticed any difference when choosing those options. I did notice the RENAME button which allows you to rename those options. Why you would want to do that I do not know. As for the million koku, I assume that is when the total of the crack tiles in a flush must be 100 or more. Quite hard ...

I would also mention a couple of other errors I found in that new app.
RINSHAN KAIHOU is not an automatic yakuman in any ruleset, as far as I know.

A closed kong of green dragons is 32 fu, not 16.

I wouldn't use this calculator until it is perfected.
