Re: Query re rules

Some rules specify if you can declare riichi with less than 1000 points... just to say you can't. Of course, this is only when bankruptcy is applied, since the question doesn't make sense when negative score is allowed. Bankruptcy = you can't pay points you don't have. Declaring <1000pts riichi = be...

Re: forum update

I'm change the captcha... again.

This time, I'm tring the Sortables captcha. It works by asking the new user/spam bot to sort a list of words into two categories.

Feel free to suggest your own lists!

Re: Question from beginer

Hello and welcome.

At riichi mahjong, you need to make special patterns (called yaku) to win.
Here your hand doesn't have any yaku, so you can't win.

See the list of common yaku:

Re: forum update

Ok, I've set it to "infinite", despite this setting being "not advised".
Looks like it works fine and fast, so I'll let it this was until someone reports the recent topics list killed their pet hamster or something.

You can use your browser's zoom to achieve pretty much the same thing.
Please tell me if it suits your needs.

Re: WWYD Jigoku

I was more thinking about 2-bam to maximize the chances for ryūiisō, but it would likely result in furiten. Looking again, discarding green-dra gives good chances for sūankō, in top of pure hand + tanyao and/or sanankō. So, for winning I'll discard green-dra , for fun I'll discard 2-bam , depending ...

Re: Hand requirement (Ryanpeikou) question

Edit: I see, base points of some kind. I thought base points had a 2000 pt maximum. Base points are limited to 2000 for hands worth less than 5 han . For 5+ han hands, the base value is higher, thus the higher final value. See http://ooyamaneko.net/mahjong/bookcmp/view.php?book=WRCR_2015&chap=6.1 (...

Re: Hand requirement (Ryanpeikou) question

Hello and welcome!

Ryanpeikō is simply twice iipeikō (on a concealed hand).
I've never heard of a family restriction for it.

So, yes, your hand should give ryanpeikō.

It adapts to the window size. Your second screenshot is what you get on any browser when you reduce the window's width (and a 150% zoom !?). It's supposed to make the site easier to read and navigate on small screens. Mobile browsers can either match websites with their screen size (2nd pic), or ren...

Re: forum update

I've updated the forum to the latest version of phpBB. The style have changed too, mainly because old styles ain't compatible. I've tried to make it look like close to the old style, but you'll notice some differences. Most notably the posts icons: - Red dragon <-> announces - Heart <-> sticky - Whi...
