Re:Another Pinfu question and EMA rules
Yes. Why not? 4-dot 5-dot 6-dot 5-dot 6-dot 7-dot 2-crak 3-crak 4-crak 6-dot 6-dot 7-dot 8-dot 9-dot is a valid hand. You may have not read carefully. The rule said exatly : \"A player is not considered tenpai if he is waiting only for a tile of which he already has 4. A player is still considered t...

Re:Points question
A \"han\" (or \"fan\") in a \"double\". Roughly speeking, each han you have double your points (called \"fu\").
A \"yaku\" is a pattern which allow you to win the hand. It also gives you one or more han.

Re:Making Mahjong Card Game
Your red dragon looks good, although the kanji does look a lot like a dagger sticking into the poor dragon´s head! Perhaps move the dragon down a little to centre it (the kanji means "centre" so he should be well centred!) and make the white border on the kanji a little thicker so it ...

Re:Making Mahjong Card Game
Nice!
I think any thing barly round will do the job.
I don\'t have time to search what \"I-Ching coins\" are, and I don\'t know what your pic looks, so I can\'t answer.Another thing, what do you think I should place as a master base in the coin suit? I-Ching coins? Have a nice pic actually...

Interesting.
You made me think all these \"problems\" of termiology come from the fact that we, westerners, didn\'t learn the rule like japanese do.
For instance, I never made any distinction between \"agari yaku\" and other yaku.

Re:When do you put down 1000-points when you Reach?
As Mr Hurley said, it\'s a matter of local convention.
Anyway, if someone ron your riichi-tile, you keep your 1000 poitns bet (in other terms, you riichi declaration is canceled).
IMHO, it\'s better to put the riichi stick on the table immediatly to avoid forgetting.

Re:Making Mahjong Card Game
The picture is realy great. But you need to know that what we call "dragons" are not called "dragons" at all is asia. They are called "gen" ("origin" ?), the third character in dai-san-gen. So writing "white dragon" in kanji is off-purpose. I believe that the Japanese refer to dragon tiles collectiv...

4 x d6 2d6 will be enouth. Some (non-japanese) varients use 3d6, I belive it\'s the maximum. Scoring sticks (have to check how many of which value) Making cards in one thing, making scoring sticks is another. Buy them, or poker chips, or just use a pen & paper to record the score. 4 x yakitori (I h...

Oh yeah ranking is so fundamental! I would never had spend around 200€ to go to the first european championship if it didn\'t reward me with a paper/internet page saying I\'m 53th over 80 players! I wonder how I can be living before without a rank! I\'m soo in love with ranking that I wouldn\'t go a...

Re:It's time for What Would You Discard! (July 11th)
If I had just one less pair, I would discard :north. Seven pairs is a serious option here, so I\'ll probably keep all my pairs and discard 5-bam. 2-bam is an option too, the hand would look like: 4-crak 4-crak 5-crak 6-crak 9-crak 9-crak 2-bam 3-bam 4-bam 4-bam 5-bam :north :north ii-shanten, tenpai...

Re:how to calculate waits fast
To get familiar with waits, take very few tiles and look out deeply what tiles you can add to turn it into a set (or set(s) and a pair). Search for how many of theses tiles remains in game too. Increase progressivly the number of tiles. First, (re-)learn the base waits: - wait on the pair - closed w...
