Re:Chankan and Haitei (Tsumo or Ron) and...
Can I mix Chankan (kan steal) with Hatei (last tile), Tsumo or Ron? You can NOT kan the last tile. So you can NOT win on its replacement tile. Close Shirl. (Do you mind if I abbreviate your user name as such?) You seem to be warning against stacking Rinshan and Haitei. But you\'re still on the righ...

Re:Why isn't this Suu an Kou?
For determining whether a set is open or closed, especially for the last set. If it is acquired by ron, it is open, if acquired by self-draw (tsumo) it is closed.

Re:The Ultimate Mahjong Table?
... if the tables could score your hand, there\'d be a way for your opponents to hack the table and steal the data <<;. Be glad they just keep track of your point sticks.

Re:The Ultimate Mahjong Table?
Tables that "keep score" use metal-ended scoring sticks. The cool thing about those tables is that you can press a button to check on how the other players\' scores are doing... And then the cubbies where the point sticks are held are able to calculate your score by sensing the metal ends... I alwa...

Re:The Best 3 Player Rules Set
Anything is permitted if it results in ron, Always. As long as your hand has the minimum 1-han. (not including bonuses like north\'s and other dora\'s)
So, yes. You can even steal a called north if it completes your hand. The Chan-Kan yaku does not apply.

Re:Problem with Pinfu
as your wait was for a single tile, it is a wait that is awarded 2-fu. Thus, your hand was not point-less/fu-less/\"pinfu\" and you are not awarded the yaku.

Re:Question about Renho and Chiho
Hmn. So EMA doesn\'t clarify that it has to be before your first draw, eh? Also, your loophole is horrible XD.
Example: You: deal into someone\'s hand.
They: celebrate that you\'re not dealer anymore.
You: show your hand as tenpai.
Them: D: :(
haha yeaaaaah <<;. that needs fixing.

Re:Question about Renho and Chiho
As Renho applies to having a complete hand finished by a discard. It makes sense that South, West, and North could Renhou from East. West and North could Renhou from South. And North could Renhou from West. (Barring calls of Kan, Pon, or Chi, which interrupt go-arounds and eliminate the chance for C...

Re:Two quick/random questions (kanji and wait types)
Holy Toledo, the happou bijin is a heck of a wait! A pair of 3 sided waits give you the 1-4-7; 2-5-8; and a double ended tanki give you the 3-6. I look forward to a hand where my wait could be that big :D.

Hmmn, comparing first post and recent update, yeah the left radical of the final kanji was Ito(thread) instead the Kin(money/gold) it should be.

Re:Open Pinfu
I\'ve found http://www.japanesemahjong.com/ does a better job explaining this scoring tidbit than the score sheet\'s listing of \"open pinfu does\" Effectively there are two exceptions to fu(minipoint) scoring. These are: Pinfu Tsumo, which negates the two minipoints for tsumo which allows you to ha...
