Re: Suu Ankou: Should I Try?
I'd chuck the and go for it but I'm a crazy gambler and half psychic that likes to win big hands so you probably shouldn't listen to me. Or at least take a lot of salt with it.

Re: Differences between real life and online mahjong?
I'm gonna highlight something from the PML tournament this past weekend: http://www.mahjongnews.com/en/tournaments/riichi-tournaments/3979-charles-wins-pacific-mahjong-riichi-open There was another suu ankou declared this same day by another player who shall remain anonymous, won on its pair wait (...

Re: Rinshan Kaihô and the Tsumo Fu
You would either need an example that lists all the fu, or find one where there should be no rounding where 2 fu makes the difference and those 2 fu could only come from the rinshan tsumo. We did that, with my sample hand, and now, for your screenshot above, The 2 fu awarded for self-draw is what m...

Re: Rinshan Kaihô and the Tsumo Fu
there's no setting to turn it off. I believe this should be 40 fu, not 50. Perhaps because there is no reason to turn it off, just as there is no reason to turn off 10 fu for a menzen ron. I agree with the 50 fu. Show an example where the 2 pt tsumo fu is not awarded (for rinshan kaihou), which is ...

Re: Rinshan Kaihô and the Tsumo Fu
Apparently Saikyo no Mahjong also awards 2 fu for this hand. I never knew about it but it does, and it seems there's no setting to turn it off. I believe this should be 40 fu, not 50. http://i.imgur.com/ySzHN9A.png Don't mind the silly hand, I was just messing around trying to get a rinshan on purpo...

Yeah that makes it even more crazy. I don't see this ever happening the same exact way again.Referee wrote:And a win only because of South's riichi stick.

Crazy double ron
Well this is unusual. I was behind by a pretty big amount as you can see, but coincidentally my shimocha and I made almost identical hands waiting on a 3-crak and we both ron'd my kamicha. The craziest thing is that both of us had riichi-only hands, no tanyao or pinfu, and we both had similar shapes...

Re: Hi! I am a Japanese who loves riichi mahjong!
I haven't been here in a while... good to see people still post. I knew about mahjong from Chinese movies and I wanted to try playing it, but I could only find games which were riichi mahjong at the time so I learned to play that. I like the yaku system of riichi mahjong because I find it easier tha...

Re: Lucky Dora
--> cost the game Scoring second isn't losing, it depends on context. Being able to score haneman is probably your best option given the circumstances. Yeah true, it just bugs me when I tank someone accidentally and end the game prematurely when I have a real chance of coming back. Especially when ...

I thought this was funny. http://i61.tinypic.com/osbn2w.png I wasn't really trying. Initially I didn't have much but I had two of those pei, the 678 pin and some other junk initially. I kept the pei around so I could have a fu-less pair and figured I might make something with that 7 pin as dora. Nex...

Re: Why I don't win?
I assume you're playing here http://www.gamedesign.jp/flash/mahjong/mahjong_e.html based on the screenshot If you are, scroll down the page to see examples of how to make yaku. You need to build a hand like one of those to win. Pinfu and Tanyao are usually the easiest. Yakuhai is also pretty common ...

Re: Is there a discard efficiency quiz
Tenhou Calculator is a good tool in terms of getting the correct tile efficiency, however you have to remember that there are alot of circumstances where discarding less tile efficient tiles are actually the correct decision. Also you talk about scoring called 'sense' and how that is related to how...

Re: Can a player hide where their discard came from?
Also I would say if you do try to do this, do it without hovering over the table and try to avoid using both hands.
If you make it obvious it starts to look shady and could be considered rude.

This is informative, thank you. Using this tool I can see the logic that the game uses more easily.

Is there a discard efficiency quiz
Are there any discard efficiency quizzes/mini games? Like the ones that quiz you on waits, but for what discards are the best? I'm wondering because I like to play Pro Mahjong Kiwame Next which has a secondary type of scoring which it calls "sense" which is basically a rating of how well you are pla...
