Re:Itsu and Mahjong Time

You are of course right. When I was denied to go out I was too surprised about that and didn\'t think about taking a screen :( In fact the first thing I thought was \"The hand should be concealed\", not that it was a game bug. It was only when I actually discovered that the Itsu didn\'t need to be c...

Re:Itsu and Mahjong Time

Oh, wait a second, now I remembered a detail... It\'s true that I had a couple of 8 pins but I got the second one AFTER having to pass on the 9 pin and I discarded it right away... So the real question remains, why wasn\'t I able to claim the 9 pin? I\'m absolutely positive I wasn\'t in Furiten beca...

Re:Itsu and Mahjong Time

Unfortunately i remember clearly the 8 pin couple; I also couldn\'t be furiten because I was keeping pins since the beginning (I was aiming for an itsu + full flush at the beginning but then got the cracks while discarding the honors and the trash) and neither temporary furiten because it was the fi...

Re:Itsu and Mahjong Time

Ok, this is embarassing to admit but since you are obviously right I can only assume I THOUGHT I had that hand while I was instead missing a tile...

Maybe I counted twice the 6 pin, thinking i had both the 6 and the 7 :S

Itsu and Mahjong Time

Hi guys, Today I was playing a bit on Mahjong Time when I was able to get this hand: (concealed) 4-crak 4-crak 7-crak 8-crak 9-crak 4-dot red-dot 6-dot 7-dot 8-dot 8-dot (exposed) 1-dot 2-dot 3-dot NOTE: I\'m not sure if the 5 pin was actually red or not but I\'ts not so important. I thought I could...

Re:Help with the score of a hand

Ooops, forgot to subscribe to the thread :S Sorry for that. Anyway, thanks for the scoring, I did close the window by mistake that day so I couldn\'t see how many points I got back then but I recall seeing something like that. Ah, actually I went out on the Xia discard, I was waiting for the 3 Pin a...

Re:When, exactly, is the new dora shown on a kan?

Well, as Tom said, since the kan-dora is in effect immediately after a kan is made, I suppose I would flip it as soon as i laid down my kan-tiles... I actually never thought there was a question there. I believe it\'s normal to see if you get more dora tiles immediately after declaring the kan or pi...

Help with the score of a hand

Hi everyone, as I stated in another thread I\'m still a bit bad at scoring, can someone give me the detailed scoring of this MJ I finally did on Mahjong Time after a long losing streak? I was West, I went out on East (dealer) discard: 1-dot 2-dot 3-dot 4-dot 4-dot 4-dot 4-dot 7-dot 8-dot 9-dot :west...

Re:Saki and Riichi?

Though I did get me a chii toitsu, dora ni, tanyao, menzen tsumo baiman as a dealer. Man, I feel like Yuuki... I\'m so bad at scoring :S I can\'t sum up to the baiman, can someone help me there? I got: Chii Toitsu = 2 yaku Dora Dora = 2 fan Tanyao = 1 yaku Menzen Tsumo = 1 yaku for a total of 6 fan...

Re:regarding furiten

Thisismich: You are missing serveral key things, including the deeper point of furiten. It enables you to read your opponent\'s hands because it dictates that you need to keep/discard tiles according to a certain logic, which in turn is reflected in the discard pool. Without this it would completel...

Re:regarding furiten

You certainly have noticed that throwing someone\'s winning tile make you loose a lot of points, a very big lot of points. It\'s why defense is important in reach mahjong. I know that and, as I said, I totally understand it. I use defensive play in many games and this is why I totally support the t...

regarding furiten

Hi everyone, I\'d like to know your feelings towards the furiten rule. I mean, I keep being told (and read) that the furiten rule has been introduced to ensure fair play and It\'s not fair to discard a tile and then claim that same tile to win in the end. Well, I don\'t dislike the rule but I\'m not...

Re:Saki and Riichi?

I agree with what Tang Said in the first page of this topic. I was actually aware of Mahjong\'s existence a long time ago and I already spotted the similarities with some western card games. Since I\'m really hooked into card games I ended up wanting to know more about it but then I already knew the...

Re:advice for a novice european player

Sorry for the time passed since my last reply but I had a hell of a week at work so I wasn\'t really in the mood of anything except reading and sleeping. Thanks everyone for the replies, I\'ll start looking for a closer shop where to buy a MJ set as soon as i get paid from work ;) As for the keyboar...
