Re: Mahjong Block (Tetris)

Huh, looks interesting. Though I'm guessing the only way to really play it these days is via emulator? (or digging around for a copy online, though I'm guessing if it's niche it might not be cheap)

Re: SegaMJ App releases in English

Hmmm. interesting, I wonder what the cause is. Just not enough players/revenue? Or some regulatory issues?

Re: Overview of current mahjong video-games

Yeeeessss! That's great to hear! I have always wondered what exactly gamedesign.jp is... is it just one person's work? Is it a group?

This hurts my brain to look at... I could almost forgive it if it was the normal cardinal compass points... but this is just too much :x

Re: Overview of current mahjong video-games

A sad thought... with Adobe Flash discontinued from the end of 2020, the Riichi browser game at gamedesign.jp is no longer playable. The free solo play with English version served the community well. I'm sure everyone here must've played it over the years. o7 (salute) Meanwhile I continue to update...

Yes! I saw this on twitter as well, it's just so well done! Also the pun in the text is just perfect.

(For those who can't read Japanese)
気分は牌テンション
Kibun (h)wa Haitenshonn

"The feeling is High Tension". But the "High" uses the kanji for mahjong tile (which is also read as hai).

You mean if you looked at one fancy board game set you're NOT interested in ALL fancy board game sets?

Re: OK - I finally jumped into MahjongSoul today...

The 'gacha' system in Hime is very tolerable - simply playing is enough to unlock various new characters, skins, etc. Soul is a lot less tolerable and almost requires that you put in the $5 per month to get the daily pass and 10x spins after 25 days. But I don't mind supporting a cross-platform, En...

Re: SegaMJ App releases in English

Hopefully this new version of MJ won't be quite that bad... although there are already comments on the mahjong subreddit mentioning several lost features (and poor international availability). Potentially, if there's no crossplay between the Japanese and English versions, they might be limiting the...

SegaMJ App releases in English

Looks like SegaMJ is joining the ranks of english Riichi Mahjong games, with an english translation of their app now available... in some areas. Apparently it's accessible on US Google Play accounts, but currently on my AU one it's listed as not available in my country. Reports/rumors (ie hearsay) h...

Re: another mahjong book

This is fascinating! I wonder about the whole "blank tiles, which can be used to replace lost tiles" part. I'm guessing this is probably referring to a chinese set, so the White Dragons will have the blue square border on them? If so... how is it expected to replace a lost tile? You would essentiall...

Re: So, aparently, I'm not there yet.

I will look those, thank you both. I'm finding myself pursuing ittsu too much, or maybe something like sanshoku... I need to learn more flexibility, I guess. (Maybe this should have gone in the Dojo...) Good luck and feel free to ask if you have any thing you're unsure of. I find that ittsu is quit...

Re: So, aparently, I'm not there yet.

Also something to consider if you're wanting to work on tile efficiency, make sure the trainer does not consider Chiitoitsu (there is a setting for it) as that will throw out the numbers on what's considered most efficient. Also for more on Tile Efficiency check out this series written by puyo, and ...

Re: Rules of Mahjong explained in pictures

This is really cool! I learnt a lot about other forms of Mahjong from it :D (eg I never really knew how Flower tiles were dealt with)

I'm curious, what did you use to generate the tile images? Was it existing software? or did you model them yourself?
