With no hope of placing in sight for me, I could instead turn my attention to the performance of the other players.

In particular, the French players. I’m amazed at how their numbers have increased in such a short space of time. But not only that – they’re really good! Rarely do you see the Dutch having to put up a fight on their own turf. For quite some time it looked like the first spot would go to a Frenchman, if not all the spots.

Oranda Sai-Kou Tournament Day One

Day one of the Oranda Sai-Kou tournament in Utrecht, Netherlands. I am tired. And for no good reason either. I got plenty of rest on the train here. (I thought I’d get my excuses in a little early!)

For those who checked my twitter, you’ll already know that my day was a bit of a mixed bag. Started off badly, recovered a little, lost it again, gained it back big time, and then cruised until the end of the day.

Oranda Sai-Kou Tournament

With over 50 registered players, one of the biggest riichi tournaments this year with 2 MERS ranking, Oranda Sai-Kou will be held in the city of Utrecht in The Netherlands. The event will take place from 17th to 18th of September in the city’s Mind Sports Center ‘Den Hommel’ which literally translates to “The Bumblebee” and was the stage for World Mahjong Championship 2010.

Jenn’s Progress at the World Series

Jenn made it into the final 16 at the world series and is playing at the final day! We can’t wait to see how she does.

11:oo – Jenn’s first game hasn’t gone so well but she’s only down by a little. Still time to make it up!

12.20 – Waiting for the results of the first session…

13.00 – Jenn and Puyo busted out. But Sawazaki-san of JPML is still in. Let’s hope he makes it to the final table!
